We invite you to explore integrative medicine at the first ever National Student Conference on Integrative Medicine which will be hosted at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from October 22-23, 2011. In consultation with top experts at UCLA, medical students have led this initiative to provide students from varied backgrounds around the country the opportunity to learn about integrative medicine and its potential impact on healthcare reform. We are driven by a common goal to reach beyond the standard medical school curriculum and become well-versed in the latest scientific findings and treatment strategies drawn from a wealth of diverse healing traditions.
While students typically learn about medical topics from a Western approach, this two-day conference will allow participants to explore topics such as oncology, infectious disease, stress and inflammation from the perspective of integrative medicine. In addition to lectures from prominent figures in the field, the conference will also feature hands-on workshops on meditation, massage, acupuncture, and nutrition.
Though this conference, 200 participants will form a nation-wide network and explore ways to apply the knowledge obtained at this event to the transformation of healthcare. We cordially invite you to participate in this unique opportunity. Registration starts August 8, 2011. Deadline for registration with guaranteed housing is September 15. Deadline for final registration is October 10.
